For readers
Reviewer guidelines
These guidelines keep reviews honest, useful and within the rules of Amazon and Goodreads. Please read them before you claim your first book.
Be honest
- Review the book you read, not the one you hoped for. A thoughtful three-star review is more useful than a vague five-star one.
- Nobody, including the author and AuthorWing, may ask you for a positive review or a particular star rating.
- If a book wasn’t for you, it’s fine to say so politely, or to not review it at all and let us know.
Say you got a free copy
Add a short line to every review, for example:
“I received a free advance copy of this book and am leaving this review voluntarily.”
What is not allowed
- Accepting payment, gifts or anything else in exchange for a review
- Swapping reviews with other readers or authors
- Reviewing a book by someone you’re close to (family, friends, business partners)
- Sharing, uploading or selling the files you receive
Timing
Please post your review and add the link in your dashboard within 21 days of claiming a book. You can have up to two books open at once, and you can’t claim a new one while a review is overdue. If a book isn’t for you, you can release it from your dashboard within the first 7 days so another reader can have it. If life gets in the way, just let us know. Readers who repeatedly claim books without reviewing will be removed from the list.
Where to review
Amazon is the most helpful to authors, then Goodreads. If you already review on a blog, BookTok or Instagram, those count too.
